Dream UP

Preparing Students for Career Success
In collaboration with the USA TODAY Charitable Foundation, the Office Depot Foundation’s Dream UP Career Exploration Program enables middle school students to start thinking about the future, set realistic and achievable personal goals − and believe their dreams can be fulfilled. Since 2010, nearly 90,000 students across the U.S. have researched job possibilities, written essays about their chosen careers and had the chance to experience “dream jobs” ranging from fighter pilot to chemist… and many more. By inspiring young people to dream BIG dreams today, the Foundation is giving them hope for the future.

As a winner of the Office Depot Foundation Dream UP Career Exploration Program Essay Challenge, Courtney Taylor, a student at Plaza Middle School in Virginia Beach, Va., had the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a television journalist.
